The NCLB Title I Program is designed to aid schools in their efforts in school improvement through schoolwide and targeted assistance programs. This funding enables the school system to provide supplementary services to high poverty students Pre-K and grades 1-8 at twenty-two public and three non-public schools.
Computer-assisted instruction, integrated language, respond to intervention. manipulatives, and small group instruction are techniques used by instructors to provide supplemental instruction. Early childhood teachers and aides provide readiness activities to participants in order to prepare them for their formal schooling.
Through the Title I Program, Pearson Successmaker and Pearson/Waterford labs are provided to students in grades 1-6 and computer resource labs are funded in grades 7-8.
The Iberia Parish School Board, through Title I program funds, supports services which include a media center, counseling services, after school tutoring programs, a family literacy center, parent training workshops, and the District Attorney's Early Intervention Program. Professional development for paraprofessionals and teachers working in Title I schools are also provided.
