Dress Code Policy

Shirts:

White, navy blue or hunter green short sleeved or long sleeved polo "golf" style shirts. The shirts must have at least 2 or 3 buttons (snaps along with buttons will be allowed on the shirts), a collar, and may have a pocket on upper left or right chest. Shirts must be tucked in at all times, unless otherwise determined by the school administration. There can be no brand name emblems on the shirts. Undershirts, including turtlenecks, may be worn under all uniform shirts, must be free of all emblems and writings and will be white only.

Pants:

Students will wear khaki or navy blue pants, capris pants, shorts, skirts or skorts. Pants may be pleated or straight fronts. No blue or khaki (denim material) jeans are allowed. No pants with rivets, no pockets sewn on the outside or on the lower legs, no holes, fraying, or exaggerated size, not to exceed 22" circumference at the bottom with no slits. Waistbands on the pants must cover the top of the hipbone. Brand name emblems on pants may not exceed 1" x 2" in size.

Skirts, Walking Shorts, Shorts, Skorts, Capris:

Khaki or navy in color. Hemlines will not exceed 5" from the floor while kneeling.

Belts:

Must be of a single color (black, brown navy) and worn with pants that have belt loops. Large oversized belt buckles are not allowed. Dimensions of belt buckle must not exceed one and one half (1 1/2) inches in lenght and width.

Sweatshirts / Jackets:

White, navy blue, or tan (khaki) sweatshirts or sweater pullovers, free of brand names and logos may be worn. Denim (blue jean) jackets are not allowed. School issued items (jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts) may be worn. Must be approved by school administration. Non uniform outerwear garments, if worn to school, may not be worn inside the building. Hoods on outer garments and sweatshirts are allowed. Outer garments may be "pullover."

Shoes - Socks:

Sandals, thongs, and other inappropriate footwear are not allowed. Shoes must have complete front and a back which covers the heel of the foot. Shoes with laces must be kept tied.

Socks - solid in color (white, navy, khaki), must cover the ankle and be visible with any type of shoe. No pom-poms or emblems are allowed. Tights that match the uniform may be worn without socks.

Hair:

Clean and groomed so that vision is not obstructed. Excessively teased or distracting hair color and/or styles are not allowed. No curlers or rollers.

Facial Hair:

Students of Iberia Parish are permitted to wear neat, well-groomed mustaches. No other facial hair, such as goatees, beards, etc., are allowed.

Additional Information:

Students who transfer into Iberia Parish will be allowed two (2) weeks to purchase uniforms and comply with the policy.

Sunglasses, hats, caps, scarves, or any other type of head-gear cannot be worn in any of the buildings at any time.

Students may wear a navy blue pull over knit cap while outside on extremely cold days. On special "dress up" days which are approved by the Principal, the students will have the option of "dressing up" or wearing the uniform.

Spirit Day shirts may be worn with approved pants, skirts, shorts, skorts, on designated days as determined by the Principal.

Discipline Guidelines For Non-Complaince With This Policy

Students who violate the student dress code policy will be subject to the following consequences:

First Violation: Warning to the student and the parent will be contacted by the school administrators to pick up their child and provide uniform clothing.

Second Violation: Student will be referred to the Adjustment Center for no more than two (2) days. The work completed in the Adjustment Center will be graded.

Third Violation: The student will be referred to the Adjustment Center for three (3) days and the work completed will not be graded.

Continuous Violation: Continuous violation will result in the student being referred to the Alternative Program.
